AOWA Technical Review and

Advisory Committee (TRAC) Proposal

Purposes:

• To study soils, environmental challenges, and waste water management techniques to discover what factors impact wast water system successes and failures;
• To compile data regarding system failures and successes in evaluating proper wastewater management parameters;
• To assist poor and needy families in Alabama by providing donated system products and installation. Thes systems will serve as pilot system to be monitored and evaluated for successes and failures;
• To accumulate, analyze, and disseminate scientific research, testing, evaluation, and conclusions regarding wastewater products and techniques. Such research is to be shared with individuals and entities associated with the wastewater industry (i.e., Health Department officials, engineers, installers, manufacturers, pumpers, etc.);

Members of Committee:

• Three licensed installers from North, Central, and South Alabama to be appointed by AOWA;
• One licensed pumper to be appointed by AOWA;
• One licensed manufacturer/distributor to be appointed by AOWA;
• Representative(s) of Alabama Department of Public Health;
• Representative(s) of Alabama Department of Environmental Management'
• One Representative from each of the following manufacturing companies: Ring, Infiltrator, ADS, Hancor, Crumpler, PTI, Geoflow, American Manufacturing, Zabel, Delta Environmental Products, Ecological Tanks, Inc., Orenco, Consolidated Treatment Systems, Premiere Tec, Bord Na Mona;
• The committee will be co-chaired by the President of the AOWA and the representative of the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Organizational Structure:

• It is the intention of AOWA that TRAC develop into a permanent advisory committee to the Department of Public Health for the benefit of the citizens of Alabama as well as businesses involved in the waste water industry.
• It is the intention of AOWA that any new date (including but not limited to technology, products, services, management techniques, innovations, or research) presented ot the Health Department that directly involves the wastewater industry, whether for comment, approval, investigation or other action, is to first be presented to TRAC for comment and recommendation.
